Masterquote are not the best known brokers, but do offer an efficient service (our quotes were provided by a good range of end-insurers, including Fortis, Hastings, Chaucer and Norwich Union). The application form is fairly complicated, but that’s because their panel of insurers is so diverse. Persevere, and you’ll get a good deal. Interestingly, our RAV 4 in Shropshire got its best deal from Hastings, but at a price over £50 more than we found elsewhere, so perhaps Masterquote are adding a hefty chunk for themselves.

The monthly premium option is also extortionate (24.8% APR). Audio, Windscreen, European cover and legal protection are all included, but do read the small print- audio is limited to £150 after an excess; which may leave very little left.

The voluntary excesses were also very high (up to £300), so do go to Masterquote motor insurance for a good price comparison (unlike most broker sites they offer three competitive quotes rather than just the best one) but read the small print before buying.
