Home Insurance UK
Home insurance UK wide is often seen as something you don't really need – until things go wrong. In recent years we've seen householders in Scotland and England flooded out of their homes or suffering severe damage due to storms, and the people without home insurance were left counting the cost of putting their lives back together. On a smaller scale, household items tend to be fragile – and expensive to replace if you break them.
When it comes to home insurance UK firms offer two types of policy as standard: buildings insurance for the outside of your house, and contents insurance for the inside. Contents insurance tends to include accidental damage insurance for your TV and video, but if you want to protect other items in your house then additional accidental damage cover is a good idea.
It is still relative cheap to buy home insurance - UK insurance premium tax was recently introduced by the Chancellor - so it's daft not to have it: for a few hundred quid a year – possibly less than a hundred, depending on where you live and what you live in – you can insure everything inside and outside your home. If you plump for accidental damage insurance you can claim if you fall on top of something expensive, while buildings insurance means that if a storm damages the roof your wallet won't be damaged too.
