As with many online car insurance services, Halifax car insurance has some restrictions; but they’re less stringent than most, for example the acceptable age range is 20-78 (many others will only allow 21-70 year olds).

The online quote system was efficient, but could not find details of our RAV4 in Shropshire, and we were advised to call up. The site is also visually very unappealing, but that’s a small gripe. You can tweak your quote with legal or NCD protection options, plus varying levels of roadside assistance (more options than most other insurers), and increasing the voluntary excess seems to offer more value than some other insurers offer.

The cover provided by Halifax car insurance is very standard. In-car audio/sat-nav is covered up to 10% of the car’s value (so work it out first!), there’s free accident recovery and overnight accommodation if necessary; plus car contents cover up to a rather measly £100.

The system could not quote for our RAV-4 in Shropshire.
