Admiral home insurance promises the best prices from a panel of leading insurers – and if our test customers are anything to go by, it delivers on its promise. However, the quote form isn't pleasant and Admiral won't cover flats or maisonettes.

Admiral home insurance offers the usual broker promise of low prices from the inevitable panel of leading insurers, but to our surprise it actually delivers: our suburban family was given three quotes, all of which were competitive and two of which were very low: £207.44, £179.40 and £161.15. However, our urban couple didn't fare so well: Admiral won't cover flats, maisonettes, rented or leased properties.

The usual exclusions apply to Admiral home insurance policies and the quote form is horrible and time-consuming – instead of drop-down options you need to enter the exact rebuild value of your property and so on - but it's worth enduring if you're looking for low premiums.
