Abbey National Car Insurance comes from one of the UK's biggest insurers, and offers the usual options such as a courtesy car, legal cover and so on. Unlike some other insurers, the cover includes a courtesy car for up to seven days even if your car is stolen or written off, and the policy includes 30 days cover for driving in Europe.

The quote form is a little too reliant on pop-up windows for simple information such as your address or occupation, which makes the process of form-filling even more frustrating than usual. If the prices were nice and low it would be worth the hassle, but the lowest quote for our Corsa was £502.26 and our 4x4 weighed in at £455.57.
