Travel medical insurance
Make sure you're protected from holiday horrors
Most health insurance packages include travel medical insurance as standard, although such cover is usually limited to trips of fewer than 28 days. For longer trips or hazardous activities you might need to take out dedicated travel insurance or look at other insurance options.
Although travel medical insurance is usually included in any healthcare plan, it has its limits: typically you're only covered for trips of fewer than 28 days, and the usual exclusions apply - so if you're going to go bungee jumping or swimming with man-eating sharks, you'll need to speak to a specialist insurer. Remember too that self-inflicted harm is not covered, so it's probably a good idea to go easy on the sangria while you're away.
