Private health care
Why pay for insurance when we've got the NHS?
Private health care may seem like an expensive luxury: after all, the NHS is there to take care of everything from cuts to cancer. However, the NHS is woefully understaffed and underfunded, and in some parts of the country waiting lists are huge. Private health care is a sensible alternative.
Why should you pay for private health care when the NHS is free? If you've ever spent time on a waiting list, you'll know the answer. Even simple complaints - hernias, ulcers, minor surgery - can take weeks or even months to sort out, and if you're in pain then the thought of bypassing the waiting lists altogether is a very attractive one. Private hospitals are often much more pleasant places than NHS ones, too, and getting a private appointment with a specialist is usually much quicker than waiting to see an NHS specialist.
