Halifax Pet Insurance launched

Halifax has launched to new products, Halifax Pet Insurance and Halifax Pet Insurance eXtra, available for those wishing to insure their pet against any possible illness or treatment required.

Starting at £3.50 a month of cats, and £4.10 a month for dogs, both insurances offer cover for vet's fees on an annual basis, with the Halifax Pet Insurance covering up to £1,000 and Halifax Pet Insurance eXtra up to £6,000.

There is no upper age limit for pets to be insured, and Defaqto has given the insurance a five-star rating.

The insurance also offers customers piece of mind should their pet require long-term treatment.

John Bennett, head of products at Halifax Pet Insurance, said: "With Halifax Pet Insurance, pet owners can now get the necessary long-term treatment for their pets on an annual basis, without having to spend a fortune on vet's fees."

The policy also covers owners against the unpleasant possibility of dog theft, which is a rising crime across the UK.
