Gender divide revealed over personal finance

A new poll has revealed a gender divide in relation to attitudes over personal finance.

The survey by Halifax Unsecured Personal Loans analysed the opinions of men and women on money matters, uncovering a number of different trends.

The findings of the research include the fact that men are more willing to lend large amounts of money to friends.

One in three women questioned said the maximum amount they would lend a friend would be less than £100, compared to one in five of the men polled.

Instead, males proved more likely to lend a friend more than £2,000, with one in ten answering in this way compared to only one in twenty women.

Meanwhile, women also showed their secretive streak in the results, admitting to concealing receipts after a shopping spree.

Just over one in five of the male respondents said they had hidden receipts from their partners, compared to one in three of the women polled.
