Legal & General insurance wins top award

Legal & General has once again scooped the Life Insurer of the Year Award at the British Insurance Awards.

It has now won the prestigious prize seven times and picked it up in the last six years running.

Held at the Royal Albert Hall, the awards celebrate insurers who have provided strong customer service and good value for money throughout the year.

Legal & General also took the Technology Award for its work with stakeholder pensions and its provision of them through an electronic pensions administration centre.

The managing director of intermediary solutions, Graham Newitt, collected the award, saying he was "delighted" to be recognised by the industry once again.

"Our success has come from our ability to continue to innovate in this market, creating new partnerships, products and services that provide easy access and value for money to our customers," he added.

Mr Newitt went on to say: "The UK Financial Services Industry is set for further change and our firm commitment to the UK and the development of our people, places us in a strong position to continue to grow and deliver value to our customers in the future."

The head of the corporate business division, Diane Buckley was also at the awards.

She commented: "Our technology has been developed and evolved to meet the changing needs of our Corporate Pensions customers and we are delighted to receive this prestigious award recognising our success."
