Lloyds bins paper statements

Lloyds TSB has launched an improved Internet service, allowing customers to view and search bank statements electronically.

The bank is giving customers the option to stop receiving printed statements in an environmentally friendly effort. Lloyds will also dedicate 10,000 trees with the help of climate control company Future Forests to the first customers who sign up for this service.

"By giving our customers the choice to stop receiving paper statements and by dedicating trees through Future Forests, we hope we can give something back to the environment," said Matthew Timms, director of Internet banking.

Entries dating back to July 2002 will be searchable. Specific paper statements can be ordered free of charge.

"The convenience of online banking is an obvious draw for millions of customers who want to be able to manage their money when and where they choose," Mr Timms said.
