Prudential investment fund beats FTSE

The with-profits Prudential savings fund has showed a 13.4 per cent pre-tax return on investments.

The company has claimed that this compares to a return of 11.25 per cent for the FTSE 100 index.

Prudential's with-profits fund is the UK's largest, with 5.5 million investors and £73 billion under management.

Strong performance will permit the firm to add £2.2 billion to its policy values, it was announced.

"This year's bonus declaration shows that with-profits continues to be an attractive investment for policyholders when provided by a financially strong and well managed fund, such as Prudential", Prudential Assurance actuarial director David Belsham said.
