Egg issues home security warning

The internet banking and credit card firm Egg has warned homeowners about the risk of open doors and windows.

Research by Egg found that one in four burglars gain entry to their victim's homes without have to break any glass or pick any locks.

An Englishman's home is his castle, so the old adage goes," said Egg's Andy Deller.

"When it comes to the average contemporary household, however, it seems that UK homes are not so much heavily guarded fortresses, as fair game for the opportunist thief."

The Egg research also revealed that as many as two million British homes have no security measures.
