Nationwide travel insurance for over 65s launched

A new Nationwide travel insurance product for over 65s has been launched.

From December 1st, older people can purchase annual travel cover, as well as single trip policies.

Features of the product include cover for up to 31 days travel across Europe, up to £10 million for hospital costs and £25,000 payout on death through personal accident.

Stuart Bernau, executive director of Nationwide, said that as it has been "increasingly difficult" for people in this age group to arrange "affordable travel insurance", this product should meet their needs.

"No-one expects to fall ill, have an accident or have personal possessions go astray or be stolen but, unfortunately, holidays don't always go as expected; therefore it's vital holidaymakers travel with adequate protection," Mr Bernau concluded.
