Sainsbury's Bank pet insurance named best buy
Sainsbury's Bank pet insurance has been named a best buy product by Defaqto, a personal finance analyst.
Now the insurer is urging pedigree cat and dog owners to ensure they have adequate cover as such animals can be more susceptible to illnesses than mongrels.
Last year 37 per cent of dog owners with pedigree models made a claim, compared to 22 per cent of those with cross breeds. For cats the figures stood at 24 per cent to 16 per cent.
David Pickett of Sainsbury's Bank pet insurance said: "One of the biggest costs of owning an animal can be vet fees, so good quality pet insurance can help ensure that should your dog or cat become ill and need treatment, you can afford to pay for it."
He went on to warn that inadequate cover could leave pet owners out of pocket and that everyone should check their policies to make sure they will be insured at all costs.
However, Sainsbury's Bank pet insurance has worked with the Pet Insurance Charter to find a minimum level of cover that a policy for dogs and cats should provide, thus leaving pet owners feeling secure with their insurance.
