Post Office banking extended for Nationwide customers

Post Office banking services are set to be extended so that all Nationwide Flexaccount personal current account holders will be able to check their balances and withdraw cash at any Post Office branch free of charge.

Stuart Bernau, Nationwide's executive director, said: "We are really pleased that our current account customers are now able to withdraw cash and check their balance, free of charge, at any of the 14,500 Post Office branches."

It is hoped that as 94 per cent of people in the UK live within a mile of a Post Office branch, that this extension of Post Office banking services will benefit many Brits.

Post Office banking services are also available to current and basic account customers of Lloyds TSB, Barclays and Alliance & Leicester, the Co-operative Bank, Bank of Ireland, Clydesdale Bank, first direct, smile and cahoot.

The Post Office banking facilities are part of the Post Office's network of 14,500 branches which is larger than the combined total of 11,500 building society and bank branches.
