Nationwide credit card introductory offer launched

Nationwide has launched two offers for new customers, which will see deals on credit card balance transfers and on purchases.

Customers looking to open a Nationwide Classic or Nationwide Gold credit card will pay just 4.9 per cent for a year on balance transfers as well as zero per cent on purchases for six to nine months.

The deal should appeal to customers as there is no balance transfer fee, and the low rate is available for a year, making repayments more manageable.

Jim Willens, Nationwide’s group services director, said: "Unlike many of our competitors it has one of the lowest ongoing balance transfer rates and a genuine zero per cent deal on new purchases."

Nationwide credit cards also benefit from a "positive" order of repayments, meaning that when a customer makes a payment, it is deducted from the most expensive debt, rather than the most recent purchase.
