Legal & General household insurance makes life easier for students
Legal & General household insurance is on offer to students and their families – providing cover for both, even if they are not living together.
The cover will insure a student for 15 per cent of the value that the parents' cover, providing they are in full time education and the house they are residing in is not empty for more than 40 days.
Garry Skelton, marketing director at Legal & General Insurance said: "Today’s students have more high value consumer goods per head than the rest of the population."
"So it is worth checking what insurance cover is in place, that it is at an adequate level and whether there are any limits on high risk items, such as computers."
However, the insurance only covers the victim if a forced entry is visible, and thus students should always ensure the immediate door to their room is locked.
And as most break-ins in general occur through open doors or windows, everyone, student of not, is encouraged to be vigilant about closing and locking these before leaving home.
