The Nationwide Travel Insurance Web site is a little on the stark side, and employs some questionable grammar: "Pay up to 50% less than travel agents!", it promises. Does that mean that the Nationwide hates travel agents and gives them more expensive insurance? We hope so.

Refreshingly for a big bank site you can actually get an online quote, and you can choose from single or multi-trip insurance. There are policies for individuals, families, single parents and couples, and you can specify winter sports cover if you're going snowboarding. The form is simple and if you don't want personal possessions cover, you can get 12.5% discount on your premium; children are covered up to the age of 23 provided they still live at home and are in full-time education.
